PBA and the parallel LPBA are separate competitions from UMB events. Set scores, a shootout and the circuit’s own ranking must be read under PBA rules rather than imported from a UMB score sheet.
Format and scope
The cited 2026–27 opening-tour guide, pages 7–9, gives PBA R128–R64 up to four 15-point sets: three set wins ends the match, and 2–2 leads to a shootout. R32–quarterfinals are best of five, with an 11-point deciding set; semifinals and final are best of seven, again with the last set to 11. The clock is 33 seconds. LPBA uses different distances and a different round structure; it is not covered by these PBA set counts.
How to read this event
A 3–2 match score counts sets, not carom points. The guide excludes shootout scoring from the game average and set score. Record both set result and points/innings if comparing matches; do not average set averages without weighting their innings. The two-point rail-first rule belongs to the PBA framework, not the UMB one-point game. Check the relevant event guide for its implementation.
